Art Warrior
When I think of the warrior I think of a circle: the single-pointed concentration yogis call drishti. Drishti is how you aim your arrow at the bulls-eye; you don’t pull them from that center because you have such clarity about its truth.
With this image I fully committed to the skull. I’d painted so many of them, trying to comprehend the balance of line, of color, detail versus simplicity. It was too activated; it wasn’t activated enough; there wasn’t enough interest there. To go back in and find the interest was an ongoing meditation, a singular focus, a clear direction. A warrior stance.
This one worked. The blue represents the silence that work required; the red represents the purpose and passion of the warrior spirit.
